In 2011 the Citizens for Brentwood Green Space announced that they would raise. $300,000 towards the funding for the land and facilities for Smith park, as well as for other projects that would benefit the citizens of Brentwood.

Many thanks to the City Commissioners for unanimously approving the purchase of the additional 80 acres for Smith Park. As much work and planning still needs to be done, the CBGS looks forward to working with the City and the community in helping provide input and private donations in the months to come for the development and enhancement of this "crown jewel".
